Almost 5 years after the kick-off for the planning of LabCampus, the time has come to officially open the doors of our LAB 48. With its outstanding architecture, the many gathering places and spaces for collaboration, the LAB 48 reflects the concept of LabCampus. The first building on campus was celebrated with guests and partners who have believed in our vision of LabCampus from the very beginning. With inspiring speeches from Nathalie Leroy, Dr. Marc Wagener and Nils Müller, we started off a wonderful evening where the LAB 48 was the center of attention. We are excited to bring this to life!

The annual Future Travel Experience conference is currently taking place in Las Vegas and our Vice President, Sarah Wittlieb, is on hand to participate in the panel "Disruptive strategies for the future of travel and accelerating environmental performance." Focal points were ambitions for the future of travel and how the industry can secure a license to grow by drastically improving its approaches to sustainability. Thanks to everyone involved for the insightful and inspiring discussion and input!

Today, we're excited to launch our new international campaign that shows LabCampus' answers to the challenges of new working conditions, the controversy of bringing back staff to the office, and the importance of perfect spaces. With the help of our retired protagonists - office chairs, printers and desk lamps - we explain what LabCampus has to offer.

Judith Gerlach, Bavarian Minister of State for Digitalization, visited LabCampus and took a look at LAB 48, which will soon be ready for occupancy. We had the opportunity to talk about our project and the vision behind it. Offering our future residents state-of-the-art digital solutions for their everyday life on the LabCampus is one of our big goals. We also gave Ms. Gerlach a sneak peek into the new campaign, which will soon be featured on our website as well. Thank you for visiting, it was a pleasure to welcome you to LabCampus!

Next stop: Destination Innovation! In Terminal 2 at Munich Airport, you can currently get a taste of LabCampus, the future Destination Innovation, at our promotion booth. So if you want to make a little stopover on your journey, you can do so at our booth until May 13, get information about our projects and even send a postcard - we'll take care of the postage.

Who is behind the camera here and what exactly is happening? You'll have to be patient for a little while longer, because we're preparing something exciting that will soon be available on the website. But we can already reveal this much: Our colleague is standing in LAB 48 in front of the future reception desk with its unmistakable pendant lights. To be continued!

LabCampus' digital event series has entered a new round with the format "Let's talk innovation" and together with curiosity researcher Andreas Steinle and the LabCampus community, we learned about the different dimensions of curiosity. We asked ourselves how to create more time for innovation in the company and found out why they are particularly successful when they create space for curiosity. We gained interesting insights and are already looking forward to all upcoming events with great curiosity!

Last week, Natalie Leroy, Managing Director Finance and Infrastructure at Munich Airport, visited us and took a closer look at the LAB 52 construction site. Find out in the video which premises will be found here from 2023, who will be moving in and why the building's architecture is so special.

How can recreational areas be used optimally? Three teams of Senseable City Lab students asked themselves how digital technologies can be used to better experience spaces - such as LabCampus - and allow creativity to emerge there. In the third year of our collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology, each of the teams has come up with their two best ideas for making life on campus even more valuable.

LabCampus was able to gain Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS) as the next tenant on campus. Around 150 DFS employees will soon move their offices to LAB 48. There, the optimal conditions for modern, interactive and innovative work will be created.

“Innovation spaces play an important role in changing the way we look at and find solutions to the world’s most complex problems.“ These and many more inspiring words from U.S. Consul General Tim Liston were exchanged at LabCampus today. It was great to share ideas, get new impulses and foster transatlantic collaboration! We were especially happy about his outlook for LabCampus: “As a cutting-edge example of the U.S.-German innovation bridge, I am excited to visit LabCampus today. I look forward to seeing continued growth in the transatlantic partnerships and new innovation at LabCampus.”

An exciting whitepaper about Munich as a growing hotspot for innovation and entrepreneurship was published by MUC SUMMIT together with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Munich achieves top positions in city rankings – as was again the case in 2020: The IW Consult city ranking placed the Bavarian capital at the top in such categories as economic strength and dynamics in terms of its labor market, economic structure, real estate market and quality of life. Whether these are also optimal conditions for an entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem, is illuminated by the current whitepaper.

During the last week of the summer holidays and at the same time as IAA mobility in Munich, LabCampus took the opportunity to introduce itself to a large audience. At our stand in the MAC Forum at Munich Airport, we talked to many passengers and were able to introduce them to the Innovation Campus and the idea behind it. Our conclusion: We were able to meet exciting personalities and make valuable contacts. For those who missed us at the stand - until the end of September, you can still find LabCampus at several points at the airport, for example on large posters at the P20 car park.

With big steps we are approaching the opening of the first building at LabCampus. In March 2022, LAB 48 will open its doors and there is still a lot to do. Until then, you can take a virtual look at the construction site. With the "Circle of Creators" we continue our digital event series and this time we invited our community to a co-creative workshop. We asked ourselves: What kind of work environment can foster innovative creation? How can space strengthen the bond between employees and the company? And what do people need in their working environment to be able to develop? We have gained exciting insights and are looking forward to many creative ideas from our community!

At LabCampus, we know that every company is different - and will therefore be affected to varying degrees by the megatrends of the world of work. What could really become elementary for companies? We have embarked on a journey through time into the future.

LabCampus is celebrating its third birthday and to mark the occasion we are reviewing the past year - it has been an unexpected and exciting year in which we have made great progress.

The Munich Innovation Ecosystem, MUST for short, has launched the #MGIS (Munich Global Impact Sprint) Stammtisch, and Dr. Marc Wagener had the honor to speak at this kick-off event about the value of cross-industry campus of innovation and what sustainability means for LabCampus. It was a great pleasure to be actively involved as a partner of MUST in this inspiring environment and to connect with all the other participants.

Together with CBRE Germany, we created an overview of the requirements for modern working environments and discussed what implications this may have for districts of the future. We warmly want to thank our host Hannah Klose, our speakers Alexander von Erdely, Susanne Huege and Dr. Marc Wagener as well as the panelists Pawel Krolikowski, Frizzi Engler-Hamm and Sarah Wittlieb - thank you for your inspiring and insightful input! "Taste the Future" - this was the motto of the first LabCampus community event. Framed by an exciting keynote by Dr. Nicolas Burkhardt and the subsequent digital wine tasting with Nelly Fischer from wyne.de, we dared to look into the future with our guests and discussed how we can use the experiences of the past months to rethink our working world. Many thanks to all participants and those involved - we are already looking forward to the next event!
